Member Bill Dancer’s reminiscing on YouTube about the part he played salvaging the “Irving Whale” in the Gulf of St. Laurence.  From a Wikipedia article:

The ATL 2701/Atlantic Sea Lion “has a “darkly ironic cargo of bad memories from one of Canada’s most notorious nautical disasters.” In 1970, the Irving Whale sank in the Gulf of St. Lawrence off Prince Edward Island, taking 4,200 tonnes of fuel oil down with it. About 1,100 tonnes of oil spilled into the ocean, including 5,700 kilograms of oil laced with PCBs.”

Hi folks;  I received the following request from Craig Taylor, a bestseller author, about interviewing people for his new book about our BC Coast. I am sure we have many members who would be perfect to discuss the marine side of his project. If anyone would be interested in helping Craig, please contact him via his email Craig@fivedials.com    JohnP    Oct 27/24
